Note: This course is the Airbus mandated 8 day introduction to Catia V5. Certification from this course forms the pre-requisite to advance to the Airbus Methods Course and accreditation.
Some training centres may advertise 'suitable courses' but check to ensure that these are officially approved by Airbus or Airbus Training Partners.
Training from non-accredited training centres may prevent progression onto the Airbus Methods Course.

Objective
By the end of the course the trainee should be able to...
- Navigate through menus and Workbenches within Catia V5
- Construct. modify and constrain 2D profiles using the Sketcher Workbench
- Construct and modify Solid geometry within the Part Design Workbench
- Build a group of parts into an assembly using the Assembly Design Workbench
- Perform basic Analysis of Parts and Assemblies
- Gain an understanding of basic surfaces and 3D wireframe using the Generative Shape Design Workbench
- Generate 2D drawings using the Drafting Workbench
- Quality Control of Catia V5 data using Q-Checker
Course Agenda
The course will cover the following.
- Introduction to Catia Desktop Environment
- Introduction to Sketcher, Part Design (including use of multiple solids), Assembly Design/DMU Workbenches (including component nodes & enhanced scenes), Wireframe and Surface Design and Drafting Workbenches
- Introduction to Q-Checker
- Excercises to practice the various fuctionalities
- Workshops to use Catia V5 within the context of Airbus methods and processes.
Prerequisites
- Experience of the Windows operating system
- Conceptual understanding of the principles of 3D CAD would be a benefit
